Elysium – Best Sci Fi Movie of 2013

It has been a while since I’ve seen a really good SciFi film. I think the last one I truly loved was Avatar. I’m really picky when it comes to the story’s “universe” as you’d call it. Avatar has potential to become a television series that goes on forever because of how expansive its universe is.

But I just saw Elysium, and that shit is one of the best films I’ve seen in a while. It’s the art style and cinematography that took me by surprise this time, not the story itself. I just love the way tech looks. Poor people’s tech looks and feels clunky and slow, whereas advanced tech looks sleek and swift. The art director did an amazing job at expressing the division of wealth which the story is conveying, through everyday items such as computers and communications devices.

I just felt well immersed and had a good time watching. So much that I watched it again two days later.
